Australian and New Zealand Standard Classification of Occupations (ANZSCO)

ANZSCO is the skill-based classification system used to categorise occupations in the Australian and New Zealand labour markets. ANZSCO provides a basis for the standardised collection, analysis and dissemination of occupation data. Visit the ABS website to learn how ANZSCO works

LMI displays data for occupations that are defined by ANZSCO 2013 Version 1.3.   


Occupation (ANZSCO) to industry (ANZSIC) correspondence

This file maps occupations to industries using the Australian and New Zealand Standard Classification of Occupations (ANZSCO) and Australian and New Zealand Standard Industrial Classification (ANZSIC).

Data are sourced from the Australian Bureau of Statistics, 2016 Census.

The purposes of the correspondence are to:

  • Identify occupations that contribute a large share of employment to each industry.
  • Identify occupations that have a strong association with each industry, even if they do not contribute a large share of employment to the industry.

This file maps occupations classified by the Australian and New Zealand Standard Classification of Occupations (ANZSCO) to the O*NET Standard Occupational Classification (SOC) 2010 Taxonomy. 

This correspondence is used to populate selected content on the LMI website.

This file contains a list of 108 occupations at the 4-digit level of Australian and New Zealand Standard Classification of Occupations (ANZSCO), classified as STEM occupations (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics) following analysis by the National Skills Commission. This occupations list is used by the National Skills Commission in analytical reports.
